Bin & Back started the way most good ideas in this city do: somebody was sweating in a driveway in August, watching the bottom fall out of a box.
After one too many moves spent hunting for boxes behind the liquor store, taping them, watching them turn to oatmeal in a rainstorm, and then paying the city to haul the wreckage away, we asked the obvious question: why doesn't Houston have a good bin rental?
Cities like Austin, Dallas and D.C. have had reusable moving crates for years. Houston, the fourth-largest city in the country, with hundreds of thousands of moves a year, had almost nothing that was actually local, actually affordable and actually showed up on a Saturday.
So we bought a trailer, a pressure washer and a few hundred bins, and started delivering. That's it. That's the origin story.
