Questions
Moving box rental in Houston: the questions people ask
How much does it cost to rent moving boxes in Houston?
From $119 for 25 boxes for one week (a studio or one-bedroom) to $429 for 100 boxes for two weeks (five or more bedrooms). Every bundle includes delivery and pickup within 30 miles of downtown Houston, two dollies, labels and zip ties. Texas sales tax of 8.25% is added at checkout.
Is there a delivery fee, and how far around Houston do you go?
No fee when both addresses are within 30 miles of downtown Houston, which covers everything inside Beltway 8 and the suburbs on our service-area page. Past the line, that trip is $2 per mile beyond it, shown before you pay.
How many moving boxes do I need for a Houston apartment versus a house?
About 15 to 20 boxes per bedroom plus 10 for the kitchen. A one-bedroom apartment is usually 25, a two-bedroom about 40, a three-bedroom house about 60. The moving box calculator adjusts for how much you own.
How long can I keep the boxes?
One week or two, your choice when you book. Need longer? Text us; extensions are $1 per box per week, billed by Square invoice. Most people take two weeks: one to pack, one to unpack.
Do I need to be home for delivery and pickup?
For delivery, yes, or someone who can sign. For pickup, no. Stack the empties somewhere we can reach, like the porch, garage or leasing office, and text us a photo.
Can you deliver to one address and pick up from another?
Yes, that is the normal way it works. Tell us both addresses when you book; they can be across the street or across the county, as long as both are in our service area.
Will the boxes hold up in Houston's heat and humidity?
Yes. Hard plastic does not soften in humidity or go to mush in rain the way cardboard does. An August afternoon in the driveway is fine. Keep anything that melts out of a parked car, as you would with any box.
Do you deliver to Downtown and Galleria high-rises, and do they need a certificate of insurance?
Yes to both. We bring the boxes up on dollies, usually by the freight elevator, and if your building asks for a certificate of insurance we send one to the leasing office the same day. Reserve the elevator with your office first.
What if my building only has stairs?
We carry them up. Walk-up stairs with no elevator are $10 per flight, charged once per address, and the dollies handle everything on the flat.
Can you deliver to a gated or HOA community?
Yes. Put the gate code in the booking notes or text it to us the morning of delivery. Cinco Ranch, Bridgeland, Sienna, Shadow Creek Ranch, Towne Lake and the other gated communities in our service area are all covered.
How do you clean the boxes?
Every box and lid is pressure-washed and sanitized between customers. Hard plastic with snap-on lids wipes clean and does not hold smells.
Can I use rented boxes with professional movers?
Yes, and movers like them: uniform boxes stack four high on a dolly and load a truck faster than mixed cardboard, which matters when the crew is paid by the hour. Tell your movers the boxes are rented so nothing gets loaded into storage by mistake.
Can I cancel or reschedule?
Cancel free of charge up to 24 hours before your delivery window. Inside 24 hours we keep a $35 trip fee. Need a different day? Text us as early as you can.
Is there a deposit?
No deposit. You pay the bundle price when you book. Normal scuffs are never charged; a cracked or missing box is $25, a missing lid $5, a missing dolly $60, and you can buy any box outright for $18 if you want to keep it.
Is renting moving boxes worth it?
If your time is worth something, usually yes. Cardboard is cheaper on the receipt, about $100 to $150 new for a two-bedroom against $169 for 40 rented boxes for a week, but the rental includes delivery, pickup, two dollies and no assembly, breakdown or disposal. It is not worth it for a move out of Houston or for long-term storage, because the boxes come back to us.
