Why a short move suits bins better than a long one
A move from the Heights to Montrose, or from a Midtown apartment to a Galleria high-rise, takes a truck an hour. The slow part is everything else: finding boxes, building them, taping them, and then getting rid of the pile. Rented bins cut that part out. They arrive built, with lids that snap on and dollies to roll them, and a week later they leave with us. You never flatten a box or drive one to a recycling center.
That only works when both ends of the move are within reach of us, which is exactly what a move within Houston is. Delivery and pickup are free when both addresses are within 30 miles of downtown. Everything inside the Loop and out to Beltway 8 is 8 to 13 miles from downtown, so an inner-city move is always inside the free zone, and so are most of the suburbs on our service-area page.
How a local move with bins goes
- Book with the address we deliver to (the old place) and the address we collect from (the new place). They can be across the street or across the county.
- We deliver the bins on dollies, inside your door, in a two-hour window we text you the evening before. For an apartment or high-rise we use the freight elevator, and we send your building a certificate of insurance the same day if the office asks for one.
- You pack and move. Lids snap shut, bins stack four high on a dolly, and uniform stacks load into a truck or a friend's SUV faster than mixed cardboard.
- We pick up from the new address. Nest the empties, text us "ready", and we take them away to be washed for the next move.
Inner Loop and inside-the-Beltway neighborhoods we deliver to
The Heights, Montrose, Midtown, EaDo, Downtown, the Museum District, Rice Village, West University, Bellaire, River Oaks, Upper Kirby, the Galleria and Uptown, Memorial, Spring Branch, Oak Forest, Garden Oaks, Meyerland, the Medical Center, and everything between. If your move stays inside the city, see the Houston page for the city's own cardboard and heavy-trash rules, or book and we check both addresses before you pay.
Apartment-to-apartment moves
Many Houston moves go from one apartment to another, often in the same part of town. Three things make them go smoothly, and none of them is a box. Reserve the elevator at both buildings as soon as you have dates. Ask each office whether it wants a certificate of insurance from anyone delivering or moving, and pass the requirements on. Find out where a truck can park: inside the City of Houston, blocking a lane or a sidewalk needs a mobility permit from the Houston Permitting Center. Our apartment move-in guide covers all three in detail.
Walk-up with no elevator? Stairs are $10 per flight, charged once per address, and it is on the pricing page so there are no surprises.
How many bins for a local move
| Home | Package | Bins | 1 week | 2 weeks |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Studio or 1 bedroom | Little Move | 25 | $119 | $159 |
| 2 bedrooms | Just Right | 40 | $169 | $219 |
| 3 bedrooms | Family Move | 60 | $219 | $289 |
| 4 bedrooms | Big Move | 80 | $279 | $359 |
| 5+ bedrooms | Whole House | 100 | $329 | $429 |
Every package includes two dollies, labels, zip ties, delivery and pickup. Packages of 60 bins and up are on a waitlist while we finish our soft launch. A short move often fits in one week: pack over a few evenings, move on Saturday, unpack on Sunday. If your lease dates overlap by more than a few days, take two weeks. Not sure of the size? Use the moving box calculator.
If you are leaving Houston
Be honest with yourself here, and we will be too. Rented bins have to come back to us, so a move to Austin, Dallas or out of state needs boxes you can keep. Our guide to where to get moving boxes in Houston covers buying new ones, finding free ones and what to check before you trust a free box. If only one end of your move is outside our 30-mile zone, we can still do it: that trip is $2 per mile past the line, shown before you pay.
