Short version
They're all the same thing: a heavy-duty, lidded, stackable plastic container that you rent for a move instead of buying cardboard boxes. The word changes depending on who's talking.

What actually varies
- Lid style. Retail-style bins (ours) have a separate snap-on lid. Industrial crates have two hinged flaps attached to the body. Both stack; attached-lid crates nest a little tighter when empty.
- Size. Rental bins run from about 18 gallons (roughly a medium cardboard box) to 27 gallons (about one and a half large boxes). Ours are 27-gallon: 30" × 20" × 15", 3.6 cubic feet.
- Color. Almost every company uses a black or dark tub with a bright lid so the stack is visible in a truck. Ours are black with gold lids.
- What's included. This is where companies differ. Some include dollies, some rent them. Some rent for one week only. Some charge delivery. Read the fine print, not the name.

Why we say "bins"
Because that's what Houston customers say when they text us. "Tote" sounds like a beach bag to half the city, "crate" sounds like something a forklift moves, and "plastic moving box" is accurate but a mouthful. Bins it is. If you call them totes, we'll know exactly what you mean.
