Where Midtown Houston is, and how far we come
Midtown is the City's Super Neighborhood 62, in ZIP codes 77002 and 77004, directly south of downtown (City of Houston, Super Neighborhood 62). The METRORail Red Line runs through it with stations at McGowen, Ensemble/HCC, Wheeler and Museum District (METRO). It is about a mile from downtown.
What a move in Midtown Houston looks like
The City describes Midtown as old homes, small apartment buildings and low-rise commercial, with a wave of new luxury residential. In practice most people moving to Midtown are moving into a mid-rise apartment building: a leasing office, a parking garage with a low ceiling, one freight elevator and a move-in window you book ahead. Same-size bins stacked four high on a dolly are the fastest thing you can put in that elevator.
Parking, streets and rules to know
Midtown has its own parking rules. Under the City's Community Parking Program, residents of designated blocks can buy permits that exempt them from time limits and from paying meters after 6 p.m. (ParkHouston, Midtown); check your block on the City's map. The City is also piloting Smart Loading Zones in Midtown and downtown, curb spaces billed by the minute by licence-plate reader (ParkHouston). Garage clearance is often too low for a box truck, so ask your building where a truck can stop.
The Midtown Management District, created in 1999, has its office at 410 Pierce Street (Midtown Houston), and the super neighborhood council meets on first Wednesdays.
Cardboard after a move here
Apartment buildings with more than eight units use private haulers, not City curbside service, so a move's worth of cardboard usually ends up stacked by the compactor (City of Houston Solid Waste). Rented bins skip that: we collect them from your unit.

A question we get from Midtown
Do you deliver bins to Midtown apartment buildings with a freight elevator?
Yes. Reserve the elevator with your leasing office, tell us the window, and we bring the bins up on dollies. If the building asks for a certificate of insurance, we send one the same day. Delivery and pickup are free in 77002 and 77004.
